Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to what nonprofits, health departments, and community organizations most often ask when evaluating a communications partner.
What type of organizations does Influential Communications work with?
Nonprofits, public health departments, community-based organizations, hospitals, and foundations, primarily across Connecticut, with clients in Florida and Tennessee as well. We don't take on general commercial clients; this is the only kind of work we do.
Do you have nonprofit or public health case studies and outcomes, not just a client list?
Yes. Our Healthy Hartford campaign earned a U.S. Surgeon General Champion Award, and we can walk you through the strategy behind it and other campaigns during a first conversation, not just show you logos.
Is Influential Communications a full-service agency, or do you specialize in one thing?
Full-service. Strategy, graphic design, website design and development, bilingual transcreation, and AI training and policy all come from the same team, so your brand, your website, and your Spanish-language materials stay consistent instead of getting handed to three different vendors.
What services does Influential Communications offer?
Six core services: communications strategy, graphic design and brand, website design and development, bilingual English-to-Spanish transcreation, Influential 365 (a monthly retainer), and Influential IQ (AI training and policy).
What is Influential 365 and how does the pricing work?
Influential 365 is a flat monthly retainer, you pay for what you actually need that month, not a rigid menu of services. It's built around how your organization actually works: some months that's mostly design, other months it's web updates or a campaign push. The retainer flexes with you instead of you flexing to fit a contract.
Do you only work on retainer, or can we hire you for a single project?
Both. Influential 365 covers ongoing support, but we also take standalone projects, a new website, a brand refresh, grant or campaign materials, when that's what fits.
Do you provide bilingual (English/Spanish) communications?
Yes. Bilingual transcreation, adapting messaging into Spanish so it lands culturally, not just translates literally, is core to our work with health departments and community organizations.
What's the difference between a marketing agency and a communications agency for a nonprofit?
A marketing agency sells products. A communications agency for nonprofits has to balance brand, fundraising, public health messaging, and community trust, often in the same campaign. That's the specific experience we bring.
Can you help us build an AI policy and train our staff to use AI tools safely?
Yes, that's Influential IQ: department-wide AI tool training plus a written AI use policy and data-protection protocol, built specifically for teams handling donor, client, or patient information.
Do you work with nonprofits outside Hartford County?
Yes. We're based in Hartford County and work with organizations across Connecticut, plus clients in Florida and Tennessee.
Have you won any awards for nonprofit or public health work?
Yes, a U.S. Surgeon General Champion Award for the Healthy Hartford campaign.
How quickly can we get started?
Usually within a couple of weeks of an initial conversation. Because Influential 365 is flexible month to month, there's no long onboarding process standing between you and getting help.
Do you help our organization show up when people ask AI tools like ChatGPT about nonprofit or health communications help?
Yes, that's a growing part of how we build sites and content: structured, clearly-written information that AI answer engines can actually read and cite, not just traditional Google rankings.
